Occasionally, guests under chiropractic care may feel
concerned about the pops and clicks they hear during an adjustment. For these
guests, we have the option of using a unique, hand-held tool, the activator.
The word chiropractic literally means “by hand”. This is why
the majority of chiropractic care is preformed by hand. The popping sound heard
by an adjustment done by hand is air and gas as the chiropractor is unlocking
the segments and releasing pressure from the joint. For our patients who are not
comfortable with those sounds, we use the activator.
The activator is an extremely effective tool that is spring
loaded and faster than any adjustment done by hand. This tool is most commonly
used on children and those with osteoporosis and anyone in between.
