Could our high tech world be affecting your posture?

Our daily activities including using laptops, tablets (like Ipads), smart phones and countless other technological advances may contribute to poor posture.
Poor posture can cause and contribute to serious health problems including headaches, neck pain, back and shoulder pain. Although we cannot escape modern technology, chiropractic care can help correct poor posture.

At Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center we aim to effectively identify the problems that are at the root of poor posture by analyzing spinal curvatures, movement and alignment. Our goal is to pinpoint where and how the spine is not moving correctly and make adjustments to correct  spinal misalignment.

Along with visiting a chiropractor, here are some tips that can also help improve your posture:

-Exercise more often. Strengthening back muscles can contribute to a healthy posture.

-Be aware and pay attention to your posture. Be conscious of slouching and keeping your neck down during daily activities.

-Don’t Sleep on your stomach.

Myth Busters!

"Chiropractic care is only effective for back pain"

MYTH!

Although Chiropractors focus on caring for people with musculoskeletal issues, the benefits of Chiropractic are much greater than pain relief.  Because Chiropractors work with the nervous system many patients may notice a change with other non related ailments such as ADD and ADHD, autism, and even depression. Other patients may notice improvement with allergies and asthma, bowel irregularities, fatigue, dizziness, or fibromyalgia. While do not offer TREATMENT for those conditions, by addressing the spine, patient's may, secondarily find relief.

Here at Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center we believe that the health of the musculoskeletal system is directly related to the health of other parts of the body as well as a person’s psychological health and sense of well being. Scientific studies have proven that when the spine, skeleton, and related soft tissues and nerves are well aligned and otherwise healthy, people usually experience fewer overall health problems.

If you have chronic pain, head aches, or other ailments that you think could be improved with chiropractic care, call us at Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center to schedule a consultation.

The Truth About Sleeping In Your Makeup

Is the rumor true that it is bad for your skin to sleep in your makeup?

YES. Not washing and moisturizing your face before bed can age skin dramatically! Leaving your makeup on can cause skin to dry out. When skin is dry, it is less elastic, so wrinkles are more prominent.

Aged skin can also result in larger pores. Physically clogging the pores with makeup left on the face may lock irritants in and lock moisturizers out.

If you have sensitive skin, leaving makeup on over night can also make your skin more irritated that it is naturally prone to be.
Good news, the sooner you begin regularly washing your face and adopting a routine skin care regimen, the less likely the damage to your skin will be a long term problem. If you need assistance in developing a customized skin care routine, Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center can be of assistance!

Seventh Grader partners with Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center and Emerald Coast Community to raise $1,000 for Alaqua Animal Refuge

With her endless determination and passion for animals, local seventh grade student, Lily Corchis, headed fundraising efforts and donated 100 percent of the proceeds to Alaqua Animal Refuge.

"It is my dream to become a conservationist or one day build an animal shelter like Alaqua's. Because I am too young to volunteer at Alaqua) I started to raise money so I know I am helping the animals in need" said twelve year old Lily Corchis.

Lily shared Alaqua’s message of believing that every abused, homeless, and neglected animal should have a second chance with anyone who would listen. She placed donation jars throughout the community and through her efforts she was able to raise and donate $1,000.
The moneys raised for Alaqua was donated in hopes to better the lives of shelter animals. Lily’s fundraising goals wouldn’t have been possible without the generous donations from her classmates and teachers at her school, Ohana Institute, located in Santa Rosa Beach. A donation jar was also placed on the front desk of our office at Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center office. We are proud to announce that our own Dr. Shawna Hogan, matched all donations made along with local dental hygienist, Diane Bergey of Dr. Nathan Hall’s office.
Lily and her family presented the check to Alaqua on Christmas Eve and Alaqua couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful gift this holiday season.
